Comprehensive ADHD Assessment for Teens & Adults in Ottawa
Get clarity, direction, and confidence - evidence-based ADHD testing, interpretation, and actionable recommendations

1. Why an ADHD Assessment Matters

You may have noticed persistent challenges with concentration, restlessness, impulsivity, disorganization, or time management — either in yourself or in someone you care about. These experiences can feel confusing, frustrating, and isolating.

An ADHD assessment is not just a label. It’s a structured, multi-method evaluation that can:

  • Confirm whether ADHD is contributing to your difficulties

  • Distinguish ADHD from conditions with overlapping symptoms (e.g. anxiety, depression, executive dysfunction)

  • Identify ADHD subtype, severity, and how it interacts with your life

  • Provide clear recommendations for supports, accommodations, and treatment

By understanding how ADHD (or other contributing factors) affects you, we can chart a stronger path forward.

2. Who Should Consider This Assessment

A comprehensive ADHD evaluation may be right for you (or your loved one) if:

  • You struggle with sustained attention, distractibility, or “mind wandering”

  • You frequently procrastinate or under-deliver despite effort

  • You feel restless, fidgety, or have trouble sitting through tasks

  • You lose or misplace things, forget commitments, or have poor planning

  • You’ve had challenges at school or work that don’t match your true abilities

  • You feel badly about yourself or your abilities

  • You experience intense emotions, frustration, or overwhelm

  • You want formal documentation for accommodation (school, workplace)

We also evaluate for co-occurring conditions (e.g. anxiety, mood, trauma) because ADHD rarely exists in isolation.

3. Why Choose us for ADHD Testing

Cheap, quick, online approaches are inferior. They are not completed by extensively trained and experienced professional psychologists, and lack accuracy because they don't gather enough data. Some offer medication, but they charge a monthly fee that is double the normal cost of medication, so you spend more in the end, and your stuck with them because they don't offer a diagnostic report to get a prescription elsewhere...

  • We offer credentialed expertise (licensed clinical psychologist, Ph.D., C.Psych) with a practice focus on ADHD assessments

  • Digital report copy provided to secure prescription medication and school/work accommodations

  • OSAP, disability tax credit support

  • Integrated, client-centered approach: we listen first, test second

  • Transparent process: you know what to expect every step of the way

  • Collaborative care: we’re happy to coordinate with other professionals (psychologists, educators, physicians)

  • Follow-through support: our guidance doesn’t end with the report — we help you understand and apply it and offer options for next steps

4. Our Assessment Process (What to Expect)

We use a multi-method, transparent, evidence-based approach. Below is what the journey typically looks like:

Step 1: Intake Interview (1 hour)

Online or in person. Your goals and concerns are clarified, the assessment is planned, and we get started with learning about your history and current symptoms.

Step 2: questionnaires and forms

You and someone familiar with you complete questionnaires online. Links to questionnaires are sent via e-mail and can be completed from home.

Step 3: Cognitive testing (4 hours)

In-Person. This includes hands-on tasks that appear somewhat like games, puzzles, and quizzes, but are carefully researched and designed to assess your cognitive functioning. This step is completed by a psychometrist.

Step 4: Follow-Up Interviews (1 to 3 hours)

Online or in person. Interviews are focused on helping you detail your symptoms and experiences so that you don’t feel pressured to come up with everything on your own.

Step 5: Scoring/Interpretation/Report writing (1.5 to 4 hours)

No attendance. Data are analyzed and conclusions are formed. A report is created with recommendations and accommodations. This report can be used to learn about yourself, obtain prescription medication, and gain accommodations at school or work.

Step 6: 1-hour feedback session (virtual)

Online or in person. The results are communicated and your invited into the thinking process of a psychologist.

Timeline, Commitment & Cost

Overall timeline: 8 to 12 weeks (varies by scheduling and availability)

There are two options based on the type of report:

  1. Summary report option: requires 8.5 to 10.5 hours of service @ $220 per hour (total = $1870 to $2310)

  2. Comprehensive report option: requires 11 to 13 hours of service @ $220 per hour (total = $2420 to $2860)

5. What You'll Receive: Report & Recommendations

At the end of the assessment process you'll receive

  • Verbal feedback on your own or with whomever you want to invite

  • Written report with:

    • diagnostic impressions

    • strengths and challenges
